Marilluer just loved the Sevenwaters Trilogy and although it will contain the much-loved old characters, I cannot wait to meet the new ones!

One thing about Sevenwaters is how realistic it is — generations dying and being replaced, and I felt every death in that family as a personal loss.


The others all had elements of the Otherworld, this one was largely set in the land of Faerie. Sure, the storyline follows jarillier family down the generations but it is also fantastical, magical and atmospherical. Mind, the other characters generally had reasons– Sean became a chieftain at 16, Eamonn had a similar lot, Bran was abused as a child, and the list goes on and on.

There is ample room for another Sevenwaters book, and I do hope that it Marillier’s intent. I love Juliet Marillier’s other books, but everyone was right that this series really is the best. Cathal is very mysterious for esvenwaters better part of the story, I mean you never know his true feelings and why he did some things. It seemed to me to undermine the very premise of these books– that in a world dominated by men, women can make a difference and stand out too.

Although Irish lore is mixed with all the books so far, in this book it is clutch in solving the riddles of the Sebenwaters and to it’s current ruler, Mac Dara.
